Metier Holiday Dinner!

Each year at Metier we eagerly anticipate the insanity of the holidays- the nervous fiancees-to-be searching for the perfect ring; the chaotic back room explosions of wrapping paper and ribbon; the mountains of decadent chocolate gifts from our wonderful clients and friends. But amidst all of the rushing and wrapping and deciding-what-to-wear, the best moment at the end of each year is our holiday dinner!

This year we celebrated at our perennial Hayes Valley favorite, Jessica Boncutter's Bar Jules. We toasted with Prosecco & elderflower cocktails to another fantastic year with our #1 family away from home.

Our gift exchange is always the best, with each of us carefully choosing the perfect present and obsessively wrapping with the prettiest paper and glittery topper, which the recipient holds just as dear as the gift itself! Homemade treats are always a hit, this year it was Tracy's whoopie pies & chocolate chip cookies, Trina's mother-in-law's toffee & honeycomb, and Rebecca's burnt sugar nuts and granola. And of course, special pieces we've been eying through the season "magically" appear in the gift pile from Mayle, Rag & Bone, 3.1 by Phillip Lim, Inhabit, LemLem, etc...!!!

But beyond the giggling and gifts, we are all so thankful to work at the best shop in San Francisco with a staff that has been together for years. 2010 was BIG for us (one wedding, one website launch, two new babies, & two engagements!) and we're looking forward to celebrating Metier's 20th birthday next year. Here's to a warm, happy holiday season and a productive New Year!

PS can't forget to mention the incredible meal! BIG THANKS to Jessica & everyone at Bar Jules! Savoy cabbage soup with a poached egg; little gem salad with beets and feta vinaigrette; la Quercia prosciutto with preserved celeryroot; wood grilled tuna with ruby crescent potatoes, brussel sprouts, and green peppercorn butter sauce; pan fried quail with arugula, braeburn apples and walnuts; and an incredible incredible pork chop with white bean puree! And for dessert? Chocolate nemesis, a meyer lemon tart, and some delicious chocolate chip cookies....YUM!!!!
